Here we go again!
This is the 5th album in the Kind of Folk series.
We have done music from Sweden, Norway, Iceland and Iberia. Now music from Poland including the fantastic guest musicians: Marta Matuszna, Grzech Piotrowski, Sebastian Wypych and Anders Jormin.

Ever since amber carried the rough strings over the bowed lyre, the waves between the
shores of the Baltic Sea have connected our worlds.
Our musical journey into Poland started in Bergen where we dived into a music that in
so many ways reminded of our own.
We all met in a studio in Gdansk where everything became clear and reflective, like the
amber itself.

In the fifth chapter of their acclaimed Kind of Folk series, Groupa ventures into the rich and multifaceted world of Polish folk music. This time, they collaborate with the exceptional singer and violinist Marta Matuszna from Laliki, whose deep connection to traditional music brings a vibrant and heartfelt dimension to the project. Together, they explore the musical crossroads where tradition meets improvisation, and where new expressions are born from old roots. Marta Matuszna has long been a passionate guardian of her region’s musical legacy. With deep roots in the folk traditions passed down from her grandmother, she has dedicated herself to teaching and performing the music of southern Poland. Her work with the Golec Brothers Foundation and her ensembles “DudySkrzypce” and “Niearchaic Composition” reflect her commitment to both preservation and innovation,

Joining the collaboration is Grzech Piotrowski, a visionary saxophonist and producer known for his genre-blending approach. As founder of the band Alchemik and the global World Orchestra project, he brings a bold and expansive voice to the album. Also featured is Sebastian Wypych, a versatile double bassist whose warm tone enrich the ensemble’s sound. Swedish jazz legend Anders Jormin can also be heard on one of the tracks with his unmistakable lyrical depth, weaving Nordic tones into the Polish soundscape.

With Kind of Folk – Vol. 5 Poland, Groupa continues their journey through folk traditions—this time crafting a musical dialogue that is both rooted and exploratory, intimate and expansive.
